Arabic speaking research assistant for Education Research Project in Syria
We are looking for an Arabic speaking research assistant to assist the PI working on an education research project focused in NW Syria. This role's primary objective is to assist Osman Consulting’s Research Director for the ERICC Syria research. The Research Assistant will assist the Research Director during the implementation of the research agenda, helping conduct scoping and research until 1st December 2024.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of the concept notes for studies to be conducted in the next period. .

Assist in developing the methodology and data collection tools for studies to be carried out by local researchers in NW Syria.

Assist in conducting KIIs and FGDs remotely if required.

Data analysis as directed by the Research Director.

Assist with drafting research papers, briefings etc
-
Assist Project Coordinator in monthly and quarterly reporting.

Supporting in planning and research activities in strict compliance with research ethics.
Person Specification:
-
Bachelor’s degree in related field (Humanities, Social Sciences or Languages)
-
Previous data collection and data analysis experience either as part of a degree program or through work experience.

Strong communication skills both oral and written.
-
A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, enthusiastic about co-creating with colleagues across Osman Consulting's global network.

Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring a work permit.

Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Confidence working with both quantitative and qualitative data.

Advanced/Fluent Arabic Language Skills.

Principal Investigator- ERICC Syria
Osman Consulting is seeking a Principal Investigator (PI) to work as part of a small team with immediate start until 1st December 2024.
The PI will be responsible for conducting of one or more research studies focused on NW Syria and will work closely with the Syria Country Director. The PI is responsible for the management and integrity of the design, conduct, and reporting of the research studies and for managing, monitoring, and ensuring the integrity of any collaborative relationships. The PI will be considered part of the broader research directorate.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The PI will:

Design and conduct data collection waves for the specific study protocols defined in the research agenda. This includes back-checks and data cleaning.

Develop and/or choose appropriate research tools and methods to use in order to undertake effective research on the question identified.

Define an appropriate analysis plan, including for the writing and publishing of manuscripts.

Write and review high level research products in line with the studies and questions identified.

Ensure that research is conducting in line with FCDO’s ERICC ToR and the consortium’s overall approach to the project as outlined in the ERICC proposal

Uphold all necessary standards to ensure that research undertaken is compliant with FCDO’s Ethical Research Guidance.

Author and publish various research outputs, including academic articles to be published in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals.

1. We offer a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) internship suited to those with strong writing and analytical skills. This internship opportunity offers the chance to support the M&E department with project work, report writing and analysis.
2. Our research internship is suited to candidates with strong research, analysis and writing skills, and will involve supporting and contributing to the production of reports, proposals and other content.
3. There is a business development internship available for those who would like to take on a role involving identifying new opportunities, expanding our network and supporting development and growth.

Osman Consulting is recruiting for an upcoming project which will aim at developing and improving humanitarian policies, covering topical areas including shelter, WASH, Gender, Camp management and Forced migration, to mention a few.
We are seeking experts with relevant humanitarian experience to consult on a 24-month opportunity with DG ECHO. We are keen to receive applications that cover the below criterion:
Proven capacity in drafting reports in humanitarian aid:

Samples for reporting, specifically in humanitarian aid policies (2 reports/studies at least 10 pages per report).
Proven communication and advocacy:

Must have developed a communication or advocacy strategy in the area of humanitarian aid within the last three years
Proven capacity in developing methodologies to measure impact, spending, efficiency, effectiveness of funding programmes:

Must have designed similar methodologies in the last three years.
